Merry Christmas!

Well, its been one week officially since the coolest (and most difficult) experience of my life. Last Monday, I was fortunate enough to be able to train with the most elite fighting machine known to man, the USA Navy Seals. I went through day 2 of 1st phase B.U.D.S training (Basic Underwater Demolition training).

My Day started at 4:30am and ended around 6pm, and 7lbs lighter and freezing to my bones, I had a new outlook on my training....and life in general. Words cant express the mental and physical pain that I went through, as well as 13 of my closest friends from the US Olympic training Center. All I can tell you is that the guys who defend our nation in this outfit deserve more credit than anyone will ever be able to give them. They are truly the last breed of loyalty and dedication left in the world. I am sort of at a loss for words on how to express my feelings when it comes to this matter, so maybe Ill regather my thoughts and try again later...

I am now back in Texas at my families house, struggling to keep my eyes open after gorging myself on moms turkey and dressing (yet my thoughts keep drifting to those sleeping in the desert with no comforts of home, defending the very freedom that allows us to eat ourselves into comas and watch football on the couch...) Focus Mike! Back to the holiday updates. Training is absolutely awesome (except for this week as I have no-where to train...a welcome rest I suppose.) I am tentatively planning an early season trip to Australia and new Zealand to hit 4 meets and then come home back to training, just a good way to check my oil before the big meets this summer come around. My managers and I will have that ironed out in the next few weeks, more to come on that later.

Community news, it has been an interesting month since my last entry, I have seen some interesting kids, some awesome and some scary pass through my community service projects. It sometimes leaves me with mixed emotions. Sometimes I feel like these projects are doing awesome when I see some of the results in the kids, then there are those few groups where I realize that we as a society have a LONG way to go. I am enjoying a nice break as most of the kids are out of school now and I am home for a few days for Christmas. But when the Olympic year rolls in, I will be back in the swing of things, reaching out to an average of 90 kids a week. Should be an exciting and busy Olympic year. Happy holidays to all, and please don't forget to remember the ones that we too easily forget, our armed forces fighting to preserve our way of life. Merry Christmas!
